The Hunger Games

I played with The Punch Brothers and Tbone Burnett on the soundtrack of The Hunger Games on various ehtnic instruments including hammered dulcimer, Appalachian dulcimer, cimbalom and auto harp. It was great to meet Gary Ross and I was amazed to see how passionate he was about the music. We recorded the soundtrack at British Grove Studios in Hammersmith west London. Scenes of Jennifer Lawrence hunting in the Appalachian mountians were depicted by some powerful blue grass music. The first thing you hear is the cimbalom melody.

This a sample CD I recorded with my friend Terry Emery for AMG. We are jointly known as The Groove Gurus. It is a collections of percussion sounds and loops that can be used in compositions and recordings. The cover picture is by a brilliant artist called Naomi Avsec. She is great at painting monkeys playing instruments.

This is a TV documentary by Carlton for which I wrote the music. The director was Alan Scales whose production company was called Odyssey. The music was later released on a CD for KPM/Musichouse called Modern String Quartet number MHA 27.
